Senior Manager/Director

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Manager/Director, based in Malaysia, who will be responsible for driving new business and delivering client excellence across a portfolio of global and local brands. You are a natural born leader who is results-focused without taking themselves too seriously all at the same time. 

You will be involved in business development and strategic PR related program planning. You will be responsible for overseeing and providing senior counsel on day-to-day client project management, ensuring deliverables are on budget and scheduled, while also managing and mentoring your team.

With a solid grasp of the local media landscape and key relationships, you confidently provide sound communications counsel to senior clients, bringing along an awesome personality to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a vibrant team!

The role will report directly to the Country Manager, Malaysia.

What you’ll be doing:
  • You will support the overall growth, business development and manage the Malaysia office profitably (across the public relations and content, arms). This includes new business pipeline development, responding to briefs, organising brainstorms and developing proposals including cost estimates.
  • You will be the agency lead for strategic discussions and routine client/agency reviews, driving strategic planning of accounts internally and with clients, including organic growth.
  • You are to set objectives for the PR team, monitor, empower and mentor your team to bring about growth and development; with a high retention rate
  • You will support and be involved in client meetings to provide overall strategy and direction, helping to proactively suggest pivots where needed
  • You are accountable for the Malaysia market’s overall performance and P&L
  • You will manage and oversee the execution of marketing strategies and growth campaigns (working with the regional team) to build Mutant’s brand in Malaysia
  • You will work closely with the regional team based in Singapore, as well as counterparts in Indonesia and Thailand.
  • You should be Mutant Malaysia’s ambassador in the market, building thought leadership and professional relationships with clients and relevant media

What you need to be successful in this role:
  • You have 8-10+ years experience in communications within the Malaysia market, preferably in an agency environment (public relations, integrated communications)

  • You have the ability to lead a steady stream of new revenue and driven new business proposals and strategies with a high win-rate
  • You possess excellent leadership, negotiation, management, problem solving and interpersonal skills

  • You have a solid understanding of the issues and opportunities in the communications industry within Malaysia
  • You bring with you, experience managing senior clients and mentoring junior team members

Public Relations Manager

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Public Relations Manager, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, who will be responsible for planning and executing client communications strategies, across Mutant’s PR and Content teams.  

Apart from contributing to the day-to-day client and project management, with a portfolio of consumer and corporate brands across the B2B and B2C space, you’ll take the lead in proactively managing Mutant’s top consumer and corporate PR clients, proposing communications strategies while executing them flawlessly alongside the team. You’ll also be responsible for managing their accounts profitably, as well as assisting with business development proposals when required.

What you’ll be getting up to:
  • You’ll be planning, implementing, analyzing, and optimizing all PR activities from formulation through to execution, aligning them with the client’s key business objectives
  • You’ll work closely with clients and Mutant’s content & PR teams to create aligned communications across all digital channels and to ensure both strong commercial and consistent brand messages.
  • Project management and strong execution to ensure all PR activities are delivered according to the clients' budget and timelines, achieving established KPIs are your strong suit.

  • You have 6+ years of experience in public relations in an agency environment.
  • You have a track record in managing PR strategies that drive clients’ business.
  • You’re no doubt a confident self-starter and able to drive conversations at the C-suite level
  • You have a solid understanding of the issues and opportunities in the communications industry
  • You have an excellent command of the English language as well as Bahasa Malaysia.
  • You’re meticulous and able to perform under pressure.

Finance & Admin Executive

We're looking for a well versed Finance and Admin Executive to join our team in Malaysia. You'll be keeping our financial and admin functions in Malaysia on track, making sure everything is done efficiently and accurately.

You are someone who's confident, has an awesome personality, and thrives working in a fast-paced environment with a growing team. This role will report to our Finance Manager and work closely with our leadership team.

What you’ll be doing:
Finance:
  • You will perform day to day book keeping for the assigned entities
  • You will assist in Month-end, Quarter-end and Year-end closing of books of accounts
  • You will support in the preparation and issuance of invoices, quotes and purchase orders
  • You will proactively follow up closely on accounts receivables, providing monthly tracker updates to the leadership team and assist in reducing the DSO
  • You will prepare daily bank reconciliation and monthly balance sheet account reconciliation for the entities assigned
  • You will support in audit schedules, GST & SST filing along with other statutory requirements
  • You will participate in monthly deferred income / accrued income meetings and thereafter bookings in the financial system
  • You will support the processing of monthly payroll for assigned entities
  • You will assist in preparation of monthly payment schedule and processing it on the bank website
  • You will assist in the finance process compliance documentation and maintenance, ensuring that its always up to date
Admin:
  • You will manage the overall office workspace, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment
  • You will support the office inventory and facilities management, including arranging of maintenance of office equipment and liaising with external vendors
  • You will assist with the onboarding of new employees including laptop setup, name cards, access cards set-up, etc 
  • You will support our HR & Admin Manager on admin matters (birthday, annual Mutant anniversary reminders & purchase of team perks, filing of relevant employment passes etc)

What you need to be successful in this role:
  • You have a diploma or degree in accounting or related field.
  • You have at least 1-2 years of experience in a finance and admin role
  • You possess strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • You are meticulous and high level of attention to detail
  • You have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Your proficiency in Microsoft Excel is top notch
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks or Xero is a bonus!
